Manuka (Lepospermum scoparium) is a rare Pure Essential Oil sourced from New Zealand.
Manuka has a slightly spicy and freshly medicinal & woodsy aroma, even a little camphory.
You would add Manuka to your diffuser for a clean, uplifting aroma and maybe times when you want to fight off germs, get rid of odors, or add clean and woodsy aroma to your space.
Manuka would blend beautifully with Australian Oils like Eucalyptus, Lavender, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Tea Tree, Peppermint and Clary Sage.
If you were making a topical Oil with Manuka, you would be most likely using it to kill germs, get rid of odors, relieve pain or to treat acne. This is a skin sensitizing essential oil and is not applied neat. Always dillute this powerful Essential Oil in a carrier oil before using topically. No more than 2% Manuka Oil in a formula, although a higher concentration can be used to spot treat acne.
Properties of Manuka Oil:
Antibacterial & Antimicrobial: Rich in compounds called triketones. These are natural compounds shown to help inhibit the growth of certain bacteria and microorganisms. Great for getting rid of odors. Also used in skincare to eliminate acne causing bacteria.
Anti-fungal: Helps address fungal conditions like athlete's foot and ringworm.
Anti-inflammatory & Soothing: Used to calm skin irritation, minor burns, cuts, insect bites, and inflammatory skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis (must be dilluted in a carrier oil first)
