Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh Bath Salts
Nothing really says Christmas like gold frankincense and myrrh. This recipe and video will show you how to make gold frankincense and myrrh bath salts using pure essential oils and 100% natural ingredients.
You may be wondering how you put gold into bath salts. Well, there are a lot of theories about gold, frankincense and myrrh being given to Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus at Christmas time, and one theory is that the gold was not actually gold metal but was gold turmeric. This makes a lot of sense because frankincense, myrrh and turmeric were used as healing agents back in ancient times. All three of these were worth more than gold and it would make a lot of sense for them to be used in the family medicine cabinet.
This recipe is rich, aromatic and heavy on the base notes. We added Bergamot because it lightens and brightens the aroma, but it's an optional addition.
We also recommend to use what you have on hand! It's totally okay if you only have one kind of salt or if you don't have one of the oils. Just use what you have and adjust to your preference.
Let's get started!
Ingredients
- 1 cup Sea Salt
- 1 cup Epsom Salt
- 1 cup Pink Himalayan Salt
- ¼ cup Baking Soda
- 3 drops Myrrh Pure Essential Oil
- 6 drops Turmeric Pure Essential Oil
- 8 drops Frankincense Pure Essential Oil
- 10 drops Bergamot Pure Essential Oil
Method:
Step 1
In a large bowl, add the salts and baking soda. Mix well.
Step 2
Add the drops of pure essential oils and mix again really well.
That's it! This recipe makes about 3.25 cups of bath salts, you can put some into cute containers and give them as gifts or treat yourself some luxurious soaks over the festive season.
